Fall is just around the corner, and in a normal year, that would mean we are busy here at Camp Friedenswald preparing for our fall outdoor education programming for area schools. This year, as we all know, is different. With the cancellation of field trips at most schools, our schedule now has space for something new. Knowing that many students are at home again, learning virtually, we are excited to offer a Day Getaway on select weekdays this fall.
The Day Getaway will give families the chance to spend a day at Camp Friedenswald, away from screens, connecting with the natural world and each other. It includes access to your own private cabin with restrooms, picnic table, fire pit, and cozy spot for an afternoon nap. With over six miles of trails through woodlands and more, a large beach with access to canoes and kayaks on beautiful Shavehead Lake, and large playing fields for all ages to run free, there is plenty to keep everyone smiling all day long! Simply pack your lunch and head on up for a fun-filled day, making memories together in the peaceful woods.
For families who would like some outdoor education enrichment, we are also providing private staff-led classes on request. Friendly Camp staff will guide your family in activities such as exploring macroinvertebrates that live in the fen or sampling wild edibles in the peaceful woods. We just ask that you wear your mask and use social distancing during staff led classes.
We hope to see some familiar faces this fall, while also connecting with folks new to Camp. All are welcome!
