In February, we conducted an on-line poll asking for help naming the new cabins. Over 200 people responded, helping us come up with the following names (which are all trees found on Camp’s property): Dogwood, Elm, Juniper, Redbud, Sumac, and Walnut.
The lodge formerly known as the “Staff House” and “Guest House” will be called Sandhill Lodge – named for the Sandhill cranes who nest in the fen below, and after the sandy hill on which it sits.
In keeping with naming buildings after trees, we have also given the Chapel/Activity Center a new name – Cottonwood Center – named after the large tree visible from the building’s front windows. Of course, a new name doesn’t replace old memories; we hope this renewed facility will provide a place for new experiences of worship, play, and memories!
